Offering an authentic original pre-production design proposal sketch for the car that would become the BMW E31 8-Series: 840Ci, 850i, 850Ci and 850CSi. The drawing is by the legendary Klaus Kapitza, chief designer of the E31. Signed and dated 1985, which is early in the car's development (the E31 launched as 1990 model)

The work measures approximately 21" by 29 3/4" - VERY LARGE (pictured with a pair of sunglasses to show scale). It is unframed. Medium looks to be marker. Illustration is on thin paper with a second sheet stapled to the back at each corner. This is a hand drawn work of automotive design art - not a reproduction or print.

You would be hard-pressed to find a cooler piece of modern BMW memorabilia - this would be a great showpiece for any BMW collector or enthusiast to frame and display!

Condition: See photos for exact condition. This work has some pinholes at the corners (likely from design review). The lower right corner has separated at the staple and the signature is faded. There is also some light wear / damage around the corners and edges including a small bend on the upper right corner. Overall in good condition for its age.
