Offering a vintage press photograph showing John Nance Garner, Vice President to Franklin Roosevelt, receiving his first gavel as presiding officer of the Upper House. The gavel was made from wood from the home of seventh Vice President John C Calhoun. Photo shows Garner with Rep. John C Taylor and Caroline Graves, a descendant of John C Calhoun. Underwood and Underwood press photograph dated 1933. Great image!

Condition: This photo has a bend on the upper left corner, some surface staining and additional wear throughout. There is a tear along the fold line of the caption sheet. Pencil notations on the back. Overall, still a very nice vintage photograph
